What we believe
Church can happen anywhere when:
- We choose to live our faith in ways that create real and lasting change in the world, reflecting God's love.
- We open our hearts, minds and doors to transform the lives of others, welcoming all.
- We put our beliefs into action; through earth care, social justice, activism for the marginalized, combating racism, working to end homelessness and affirming relationships through the way we love our neighbors.
The Mission of the Church:
To make disciples of Jesus Christ for the transformation of the world.
To make disciples of Jesus Christ for the transformation of the world.
- We devote our lives to God through baptism by water and the spirit and profession of faith in Jesus Christ
- We nurture people in Christian living through authentic worship, the sacraments and spiritual disciplines
- We send people into the world to live lovingly and justly as servants of Christ by tending the sick, feeding the hungry, caring for the stranger, freeing the oppressed, being and becoming a compassionate, caring presence and working to develop social structures that are consistent with the gospel
- We continue the mission of seeking, welcoming and gathering all people into the community of the body of Christ
Our Mission in the World:
We seek to reveal the love of God for people of all ethnic, racial, cultural and national backgrounds and to demonstrate the healing power of the gospel for those who suffer through social justice and climate justice advocacy.
In covenant with God and with each other:
We seek to reveal the love of God for people of all ethnic, racial, cultural and national backgrounds and to demonstrate the healing power of the gospel for those who suffer through social justice and climate justice advocacy.
In covenant with God and with each other:
- We affirm our unity in Christ and take faithful steps to live more fully into what it means to be a worldwide church in mission for the transformation of the world.
- We commit ourselves to crossing boundaries of language, culture, social or economic status. We commit ourselves to be in ministry with all people, as we, in faithfulness to the gospel, seek to grow in mutual love and trust, affirming all and working for social justice in the world.
- We participate in God’s mission as partners in ministry, recognizing that our God-given gifts, experiences and resources are of equal value, whether spiritual, financial or missional.
- We commit ourselves to full equity and accountability in our relationships, structures, and responsibilities for the denomination. We speak out against discrimination due to race, gender or orientation.
- We enter afresh into a relationship of mutuality, creating a new sense of community and joyously living out our worldwide connection in our mission to make disciples of Jesus Christ for the transformation of the world.
