La Mesa First UMC has been at the heart of the La Mesa neighborhood for over 130 years. To this day, it remains a place of genuine welcome to all people seeking to explore faith and make a difference in the world. We at LM1 are called to walk beside you, no matter where you are on your faith journey. We believe church can happen anywhere when we choose to live our faith in ways that create real and lasting change in the world; with relevant messages on Sunday reflecting God's grace and love and working for justice and belonging every day of the week when we put our beliefs into action.

LM1 Happenings
Bike Anywhere Pit Stop: Thursday, May 21 from 6:30-9:30am. SANDAG encourages everyone to "Bike Anywhere Day" (formerly "Bike to Work Day"). Grab your bike or e-bike and ride to work, school, or to run your errands on that Thursday morning. Stop by the Labyrinth Courtyard at the corner of Lemon Ave. and Palm Ave. to get a free t-shirt, a snack and a drink, and meet other bike enthusiasts. Register here.
Red Cross Blood Drive: Sunday, May 24. One hour of your time can save up to three lives! Make an appointment by going to redcrossblood.org and use sponsor code: lamesaumc.
Volunteer/Attend Fresh Start Outreach: Saturday, May 30, from 8-11am, every last Saturday of the month. LM1 serves over 200 "neighbors in need" with a hot breakfast, clothing, showers, hygiene items and authentic hospitality. Over half of our volunteers are members of the community. Our VBS ("Very Best Summer") camp registration is now live! Children, Pre-K (5 years old) through 6th grade, are invited to a wonderful week of growing in relationship with friends and with God July 27-31 (when the Children's Center is not in session) Monday through Friday, 9am-12pm. Go to www.lamesaumc.com/vbs-2026 to learn more and register.
Don't forget: yoga is free in the Social Hall every Monday at 4pm and the Ground Up Coffee Shop is open every Wednesday from 9am-12pm in the Garner Room, both across the patio from the Education Bldg.

Worship onsite in the sanctuary at 9:30 am on Sundays. Come as you are for uplifting worship and a relevant message. Worship is friendly, warm and welcoming to people of ALL ages and stages in life!
ON-LINE WORSHIP
Livestream at 9:30 am Sundays here or on our YouTube channel or Facebook page. You can watch a recording to worship at a time that is best for you after 11am.
SUNDAY SCHOOL & NURSERY
Children and youth are always welcome to stay for the entire worship service any Sunday. Sunday school is provided for kids from kindergarten and above following the Children’s Moment in the early part of worship. Youth are encouraged to worship in the sanctuary on the last Sunday of the month.
Nursery care is provided for toddlers through pre-K for the entire service.
A special "Sensory Sunday School" experience is offered on the first and third Sundays of the month from 9:30-10:30am for children with disabilities, led by a Special Education specialist. Contact Nancy for more information about our "Sensory Sunday School".
